The most extreme footware we’ve seen yet! Sometimes creative juices flow and the sauna becomes an epic adventue chanelling the SISU - Finnish resilience in hard times. Thanks to one of our members for writing this recap from the first ascent of our biggest snowpile ❄️ Wednesday, February 4th, marked the first known ascent of what is now Mt. Bailey. Located northeast of Sauna Valdez, the snowpile has drawn the eye of many daring sauna-goers since the start of the new year. A spiral path through the Eagle’s Rest wilderness leads to the southwest apron of the snowpile. After going off-trail, heavy conditions slowed travel and swallowed legs. I scrambled up the loose snowpack to access the ridge, where the final 2 meters were a mellow approach to the summit. I hope conquering this snowpile proves that the number of ways to cool off is only limited by one’s vision and footwear.
